African Sky assists farmers, community organizations, and others working to bolster local food production despite challenges such as low and erratic rainfall. Our most enduring food security project is the creation of community cereal banks. Through cereal banks, farming families can avoid the volatile local cereal market; grain prices typically double during the annual, pre-harvest “hungry” season. Also, at the discretion of, and upon request by community elders and leaders, African Sky provides modest emergency assistance to farm families facing critical breakdowns in household food production.
